Aryan, Journalism, Freshman
"Being South Indian at AU has shown me the beauty in every culture."
Aryan, a freshman in Journalism, takes pride in his South Indian roots and brings that cultural perspective into everything he does. Growing up, his family taught him values that center on respect, community, and tradition—qualities that have shaped his worldview. Coming to AU, he’s loved the chance to meet people from so many backgrounds, and it’s made him appreciate the unique details that each culture brings. It’s even strengthened his goal of becoming a journalist who tells stories that highlight this kind of diversity.
Aryan keeps a photo of his family by his bedside, a small but powerful reminder of his roots. He’s grateful not to have faced too many stereotypes here, but his time at AU has only increased his respect for others’ backgrounds and their journeys.
Aryan’s hope is simple: that his story, and the stories of everyone in the project, will make people at AU pause and appreciate the richness of each person’s experiences. He wants everyone to feel the same openness and curiosity that’s shaped his time here so far.
